Papermaking: Petal Paper for Beginners & Advanced
Have you ever thought about trying your hand at a new craft like making your own paper? Have you seen the paper art in our store and wondered how the delicate and pretty pieces are made? Featured artist and Glen Rock resident, Heather Corey, will be here to share her experience as a papermaker as she helps us to create petal paper for custom cards and stationary.
- Learn and experiment with the papermaking process. This course will include a brief lecture, demonstration and plenty of experimentation.
- Gain a better understanding of how to make paper by combining abaca pulp with other fibers while using a hand mold and creating thin and strong sheets of handmade paper. Heather will discuss how to integrate pressed petals and iridescent embellishments.
- Leave with your own sheets of handmade papers for yourself or to gift to another!
Materials included: Abaca pulp, hand and pouring molds, felts for pressing papers, pigments and an assortment of dried, pressed rose petals. Additional dried, pressed rose petals are available for purchase that evening!
Participants are encouraged to bring dried, pressed flowers that may be included in their sheets of handmade paper.
Age requirement: 21 and up (BYOB)
